Senior Scams: Beware!

O’Neill Healthcare North Ridgeville hosted a curbside Lunch & Learn Oct. 27 & 28 featuring take-home info from the Stano Law Firm on Senior Scams.

Guests who stopped by were treated to a drive-thru trick-or-treating.

Barbara Kornuc, Community Liaison, Stano Law Firm, often offers seminars about senior scams, planning your elder journey, educating seniors on having their documents up-to-date, and how many veterans and their spouses can obtain benefits for care.

Beware of these lines: ‘It was on the Internet so it must be true!,’’ They sounded so honest, ’’It will save me money!’ and ‘I won a prize!’

These areas and much more information about senior scams was to help folks stop and question some of these unbelievable offers.

Concerns regarding home improvement scams were part of the information provided. The fear is many scammers will offer repairs after the recent storms.  They show up at your door and tell you they can remove that tree, fix your roof, and more and just need a partial payment and will be back with the proper equipment.  They never come back.

All printed information was obtained from the Ohio Attorney General’s website.
