Citywide Event Helps to Ring in the Holiday Season

Holiday on the Ridge 2021 was a hit last Saturday!

Santa & Mrs. Claus posed with Jimmy, behind the wheel of the 1951 Ford Flathead Pick-up truck at Don Mould’s Garden Center on the corner of Island and Lorain Roads. The Garden Center at 34837 Lorain Rd. offers a great selection of live and fresh cut trees, fresh roping, Christmas plants and gifts for the garden. They also have Gift Certificates for those spring flowers.

The annual tour of North Ridgeville businesses was back, bigger and better than ever this year as Marjorie Snyder and the North Ridgeville Chamber of Commerce hosted an event for the books.

Where did all the people come from? Was it the pandemic and year of stir-craziness that brought so many people out? Was it the chance to buy local and support local businesses?

Or was it the 8 craft shows the Chamber booked for this year’s Holiday?

“We’re excited this year that we have come back with 8 craft shows, that’s why the people come,” said Marjorie.

The day began with the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast at the high school at 8 p.m. and culminated with the community tree lighting at South Central Park at 5 pm.

In between, there were a total of 24 open houses, highlighting different businesses within North Ridgeville.

The experience gave folks a great opportunity to meet business folks they haven’t met before or to support those they have patronized for years. In any event, Holiday on the Ridge offered a perfect opportunity to Shop Local and to Buy Local.

Tiny dancers stole the show as North Ridgeville High’s Spectrum of Sound filled the air with seasonal music at My Wood Loft.

Santa met with kids and families at My Wood Loft. What secrets did he learn?

This was the 29th year for this unique North Ridgeville hometown tradition.

Things got rolling at My Wood Loft at 39097 Center Ridge Road where Heather Johnson of The Northridge Health Center hosted a scrumptious hot chocolate bar with all the toppings. Owners Tory and Steve Lambert with their unique woodshop, where old barn wood is turned into new home interior appointments.

Then, it was off to see the rest of the town with craft shows, business open houses and Santa sighting throughout town. Folks then met back at the gazebo at 5 where Mayor Kevin Corcoran, with the assistance of the girls scouts, presided over the annual tree lighting. A great day in North Ridgeville!

: Tori Lambert of My Wood Loft welcomes guests to the unique craftsman and carpentry shop at 39097 Center Ridge in North Ridgeville. My Wood Loft is the area’s largest selection of re-claimed barn materials taken from barns here in Northern Ohio. Santa arrived at 11 a.m., as did the North Ridgeville High School choral group “Spectrum of Sound’ to fill the rooms with music!

: Heather Johnson of The Northridge Health Center hosted a delicious hot chocolate, complete with all the toppings, at the day’s kick-off location, My Wood Loft.

: James Cain of Russell Realty, 36178 Center Ridge, hosted Santa for photos and visits with kids and photos. There were also gift raffles to enter and holiday foods and drinks!

: The bakery team at Fields Methodist Church, 34077 Lorain Road, hosted a scrumptious “Cookie Walk,” a Homemade Cookie Sale Open House. Guests were invited to “WALK” around their hall and fill their holiday cookie tray needs with homemade cookies and chocolate covered treats! Cookies and premade trays were also available.

: Councilwoman-elect Georgia Awig and Rachel Wheeler, Director of Sales and Marketing, welcomed visitors to The Danbury Senior Living’s NEW Independent living Villa Model and grab a dessert to go! These villas are located on Danbury’s North Ridgeville Campus. All villas include two bedrooms, 2 baths, full kitchen, den and optional 3 season room with deck. Now Accepting MOVE-INS!

: Gift baskets like these are a big draw to the eight craft shows hosted by this year’s Holiday on the Ridge. These ladies were seen at St. Peters 40th annual craft show.

: Joe the Woodcarver always gets attention wherever he goes. Last Saturday, he was at the St. Peters Church craft show. Folks flocked to the 40th annual Christmas Craft Bazaar that was held in the St. Peter Gymnasium.

: The Grinch showed up, but he failed to steal any of the Holiday on the Ridge joy!
