Police Chief Michael Freeman shared the story of Officers Vazquez and Julio along with K-9 Irie assited Highway Patrol Officers track two suspects who fled on foot after vehicle chase. The officers and K-9 traversed a difficult and snow covered terrain tracking the suspects in frigid temperatures. Read Chief Freeman’s statement below:

“I understand this is what we get paid for, but I want to share with you some body cam video that made me so proud to be the Chief of Police in North Ridgeville. During this call, these two NRPD officers showed tenacity, grit and physical toughness in tracking two subjects who moments earlier were in a vehicle pursuit with Ohio State Highway Patrol, crashed and bailed on foot. Due to the terrain, water-soaked boots and pants, frigid temperatures, physical exertion and darkness, these officers could’ve given up, but they didn’t. I realize this video is rather long, but the duration lends credence to their dogged determination in the capture of these suspected law breakers. With that being said, tip of my hat and gratitude goes to Officer Vazquez, Officer Julio, and his K-9 partner, Irie. This was a job well-done!”
