North Ridgeville Tree Lighting Ceremony Welcomes Christmas

Mayor David Gillock joined with Santa and his elves as the community of North Ridgeville gathered at South Central Park last Saturday for the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony.

North Ridgeville welcomed the Christmas season with its festive annual Tree Lighting Ceremony the evening of Saturday, Dec. 7 at South Central Park.

Mayor David Gillock joined with Parks and Recreation Director Kevin Fougerousse in welcoming hundreds of guests to the celebration.

The North Ridgeville High ‘Spectrum of Sound’ livened the proceedings with a hearty menu of holiday songs and girl scout troops joyfully took part in activities by placing ornaments on the community tree.

North Ridgeville South Central Park lights up for the holidays.

Mayor Gillock then joined with Santa in lighting the tree. It was a special moment for the Mayor as he thanked one and all for coming out for the event. It brought a nostalgic note to the Mayor’s holiday as he enters retirement and closes out his career of community service at year’s end.

The Choir, under the direction of Sarah Miller, then performed Carol of the Bells and all joined in for a happy chorus of ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas!”
