2024 Northeast Ohio Walks to End Alzheimer’s®

The Alzheimer’s Association invites Northeast Ohioans to register for the 2024 Lorain County Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Sat., Sept. 7 at Lorain County Community College.

With more than 600 Walks taking place across the U.S. each fall, Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest fundraising event and supports the Association’s free educational programs and support groups, Alzheimer’s care services and advancements in treatment and research.

The fundraising goal for the Lorain Walk is $105,000. Jeff Appel from Hyland Software will serve as 2024 Walk Chair. Hyland also is a local sponsor of the Lorain Walk.

“I walk to end Alzheimer’s in honor of my Grandpa Albert E. Stull and my Grandma Sue, who was his primary caregiver during his journey with Alzheimer’s,” said Austin Stull, manager of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s for the Cleveland Area Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. “I want to personally invite friends and families to join over 300 individuals at the Lorain County Walk and fight to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.”

To support the fundraising goal of the Lorain Walk, a special Alzheimer’s Association event with the Lake Erie Crushers Baseball team will be held on Thurs., Aug. 8. Come out for an entertaining night of baseball while supporting the Alzheimer’s Association!

An estimated 6.9 million Americans aged 65 and older have Alzheimer’s dementia, including 236,200 in Ohio, according to the Alzheimer’s Association Facts and Figures report. A total of 414,000 family caregivers provide 624 million hours of unpaid care each year in Ohio, valued at more than $11.4 billion. One in three seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another dementia.
