A Letter from Commissioner Elect, Michelle Hung

What a difference a year makes! This time last year is when the idea of a Hung candidacy for Lorain County Commissioner was brought up. David Moore and I sat down to discuss the issues we, and many others, were seeing in Lorain County. The Board of Commissioners imposing a tax increase after the voters rejected it was a sour point for many and it made people feel their vote didn’t matter. Another point was the Commissioners meetings were being held at times that prevented people from attending. In addition, people were upset Commissioners adjourned into executive sessions that lasted for hours where they couldn’t see or hear what was being said. At the time, I felt that the residents were feeling unheard and ignored on issues that were important to them. Based on those discussions, Hung and Moore took on the task to do a better job and to deliver respect and honor representing you on the Board of Commissioners.

When we decided to run, we had the beginnings of a campaign strategy that would inform the voters about the issues, stopping the reckless spending, fixing our Lorain County 911 and bringing a Human Resource Department to the County. After the primary election contest was decided, we went into the general election and we shared our ideas on how to fix the issues, and lead by problem solving.

We know that we would not be here without the support of the voters in North Ridgeville. I want to THANK the voters for supporting us and the unofficial election results are reporting the voters chose Hung & Moore in every precinct in North Ridgeville.

2020 has been quite the journey for all of us here in North Ridgeville. One thing that I know about our City is we work hard; we love our families, and we are fiercely independent minded. And we sure did miss the Corn Festival this year, but I am sure it will be back, better than ever in 2021!

As Commissioner elect, I will be accessible to the residents and will serve as an honorable and hardworking representative on the Lorain County Board of Commissioners. I love our City and our residents and look forward to the challenges I will face in the next 4 years serving all the residents of Lorain County.
