Introducing Jason Jacobs, Council At-Large

Greetings! My name is Jason Jacobs, and I am North Ridgeville’s recently appointed Councilman. I am 40 years old, and as a lifelong resident of North Ridgeville, this great city has always been the place I have called home. As a sophomore in high school, I began working as a part time dishwasher at O’Neill Healthcare North Ridgeville, and I have remained working there, in various capacities, while earning my college degrees and becoming a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Today I help oversee the day-to-day operations in six senior care facilities for this North Ridgeville-based organization. 2021 marks my 25th year of providing dependable healthcare services to seniors in our city and the surrounding area.

After getting married, my wife Veronica and I decided to remain here to raise our family, which has grown to five children – four boys and one girl. Last year we celebrated 10 years of marriage!

For more than 12 years, I have been a dedicated member of, and often held leadership roles in, various North Ridgeville organizations, including the North Ridgeville Planning Commission, Tax Abatement Review Board, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Senior Center Advisory Board, Hampton Place Homeowner’s Association Board of Directors, and Saint Peter Parish. In January, I was appointed by North Ridgeville City Council to fill the Council-At-Large seat vacated by County Commissioner Michelle Hung. Although recently appointed to City Council, my seat expires at the end of 2021, and I have decided to seek election to retain the seat beyond this year.

As a Councilman, currently and looking forward, I am determined to achieve my main goal, which is to make our wonderful city an even better place to live, work, play, conduct business and raise a family. My plan focuses on:

• Economic development – helping to make our city an even more inviting place for retail stores and restaurants to locate, as well as light industrial and tech businesses to bring jobs that will increase our tax revenue.
• City infrastructure – providing support to ensure our major road improvements yield positive opportunities for growth while sufficiently funding the maintenance of our streets and continued improvements to fix our flooding issues.
• Fiscal responsibility – closely monitoring city budgets to help ensure priority-based spending that will maintain financial stability as we move forward after the COVID-19 crisis.

I am passionate about these objectives and will make sensible and sound decisions for the betterment of our city and its residents. Although I am just getting started in my role on our City Council, I have been here, and I will be here to continue to prove my DEDICATION, DETERMINATION and DEPENDABILITY for our great city!
