Parking Lot Closure
As part of the ongoing renovation and expansion of the Avon Branch, it is necessary to temporarily close the library parking lot to the public beginning March 30. Patron parking will be available along Harvest Drive during this time. The book return bin will be available a short walk from the temporary parking and the hold lockers will remain available just outside the main entry doors. This parking lot closure is expected to last for a period of six weeks. For updates and renovation highlights, please see the Avon Updates page at LorainPublicLibrary.org.
Closed for Easter: All branches of the Lorain Public Library System are closed on Sunday, April 17.

Shred Day: Saturday, April 9; 9 a.m. to noon, Main Library – Each household may bring up to five standard‑size copier paper boxes or five grocery‑size bags of documents. Staples are fine, but no paper clips, binder clips, binders, spiral‑bound notebooks, other metal objects, batteries, or electronics. This free event is provided by the Lorain County Solid Waste Management District. The event may end early if the truck is full.

Creepy Crawly Composting: Thursday, April 14; 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Columbia Branch – Skip the landfill and compost your kitchen’s biodegradable food scraps at home. Learn about the basics of maintaining a vermicomposter, or worm farm, to create rich, natural fertilizer for your garden. Each family will make and take home their own mini‑composter with a wriggle of red worms. Dress for a mess! Preregistration required.
