Monthly thoughts from Councilwoman at Large Georgia Awig
July literally starts out with a bang with fireworks on July 4. School is out and the weather is warm in most parts of the United States. It is a time for families to go on vacation and enjoy relaxation and activities away from where they normally reside. There is so much to do in Ohio and in other states as well as in various other countries. I have been to all 50 states and 7 different countries.
I am blessed to have been born into a family who liked to travel and was able to do that during school vacations. At this stage in my life, I usually spend time away visiting our grandchildren since they do not live close to us. I encourage you at the beginning of this month to think of where you would like to spend your days in July. The month will be gone before we know it and we will be saying “I can’t believe it is August 1”!
If you are not physically or financially able to travel, why not sit in your favorite chair and enjoy the travels of others or maybe trips that you took in the past. If you don’t have your own pictures, I am sure you can find some in books, on the internet or even on television. Either in your mind or in person, where will you go in July before it is gone?
