Nathan Manning Announces Candidacy for State Representative

Accomplished Legislator Sets Sights on Continuing Service in the Ohio House

Today, State Senator Nathan Manning (R-North Ridgeville) announced his candidacy for the Ohio House of Representatives in the 52nd House District which encompasses parts of Lorain County including Elyria, Avon, North Ridgeville, Amherst Township and Elyria Township. Manning knows these communities well as he has represented them in the Ohio Senate since 2019, and in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015-2018.

Manning previously served as the prosecutor of North Ridgeville and owns the law firm Manning Law, LLC. He graduated from North Ridgeville High School, and received his bachelor’s degree from Denison University and his Juris Doctor degree from Capital University Law School.

Currently, Senator Manning holds the unique distinction of serving as Chairman of two Senate committees: the Judiciary Committee and the Select Committee on Gaming. He also serves as a member of the Finance Committee, Addiction and Community Revitalization Committee, and the Financial Institutions, Insurance and Technology Committee.

When he served in the Ohio House of Representatives, Manning was selected to be the Policy Chair for the Republican caucus.

“I am humbled to have the support of voters to serve in the legislature, and have always prioritized working on policy issues that matter to the communities I represent,” said Senator Manning. “I believe I can continue to be an effective voice for Lorain County at the Statehouse.”

In July, Senator Manning worked with JobsOhio, his colleagues in the legislature, and the Lorain County Commissioners to help secure $67 million in funding for a major economic development project in Lorain County.

Dozens of bills Manning has sponsored or co-sponsored have been signed into law. Among them, Senate Bill 100 holds people who use electronic tracking devices for nefarious purposes accountable for their actions and protects individuals from being unknowingly tracked. He also carried Anti-SLAPP legislation, which creates a judicial process to prevent meritless lawsuits that attempt to intimidate individuals from exercising their Constitutional rights, protecting freedom of expression for Ohioans. His Senate Bill 288 bill helped provide pathways forward to those formally incarcerated, modified Ohio’s drug offense law, and strengthened penalties for domestic violence offenders.

A lifelong resident of Lorain County, Senator Manning is active in his community and involved in several organizations including the North Ridgeville and Lorain County Chambers of Commerce, Lorain County Bar Association and he previously served as a board member of the Genesis House in Elyria.
