Lorain Public Library System’s Upcoming Programming – December 16 to 30

All branches of the Lorain Public Library System will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Thursday, Dec. 25. We will reopen for regular hours at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 26.

Chair Yoga and Tai Chi: Tuesdays, Dec. 16, 23, 30, 11 a.m. to Noon, South Lorain Branch, – This program blends the benefits of both practices in a gentle, accessible and supportive environment. It offers a fun and inclusive environment for all levels, focusing on strength, flexibility and balance while seated or using the chair for support. Heart Healthy Cooking for Everyday: Snacks: Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1:30 to 3 p.m., Main Library – Learn how to create simple and nutritious bites that support heart health by using whole grains, no or low sodium and lean proteins in this hands-on program. Preregistration is required.

All Ages Coloring Club: Tuesday, Dec. 16, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Main Library – Relax, unwind and express yourself through coloring. All supplies will be provided including a variety of coloring pages from simple designs to intricate patterns. Open to all ages and skill levels.

Friends of the Columbia Library, Inc. Meeting: Tuesday, Dec. 16, 5 to 6 p.m., Columbia Branch – Join a fun group of other library enthusiasts who host book sales and volunteer at various programs in support of our beloved branch.

“KPop Demon Hunters” Party: Tuesday, Dec. 16, 6 to 7:30 p.m., Domonkas Branch – Enjoy themed crafts, participate in KPop trivia and show off your best dance moves while socializing with other fans of the movie. Cosplay is encouraged!

Ohio Means Jobs Career Counseling: Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1 to 4:15 p.m., Main Library – Schedule a free appointment with an Ohio Means Jobs Career Counselor to assist you with resumes, cover letters, creating an effective job search strategy and interviewing tips.

Bundt Cake Blitz: Friday, Dec. 19, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Main Library – Another vintage holiday season classic, the 1950s bundt cake. Made with the classic post-war ingredients, cake mix and instant pudding! We’ll talk a little about its origin and history and explore how you can mix and match and make this easy recipe your own family favorite. Participants are encouraged to bring a new or vintage pan for show and tell.

Teen Gaming: Open Play: Friday, Dec. 19, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Avon Branch – Bring your friends and join us during our free gaming hours! For ages 12 and up.

Sublimation Basics: Friday, Dec. 19, 4 to 5:45 p.m., Main Library – Learn the basic skills of the sublimation printer in the Create Space to make print-on-demand products like cups, coasters and clothing.  Must be comfortable operating a computer on your own.

Friends of the Avon Library Book Room Hours: Saturdays, Dec. 20, 27, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Avon Branch – The Friends of the Avon Library Book Room is open to the public. Find books and DVDs for all ages for a suggested donation of $1 per item.

Saving and printing tips will also be discussed. Prerequisite: Computer Basics or experience and comfort using a mouse. Preregistration required.
