Music Bingo

January 27, 1 p.m. & February 13, 10 a.m. – Join us for an hour of lively music bingo that will have you revisiting favorites and classics. Songs from various decades are played, sure to spark some fond memories and get your toes tapping.

Try It Tuesday

This program offers a fun way to explore different cultures through food or different food preferences/diets (vegan, dairy-free, low-carb, Mediterranean, etc.) Attend this program to learn more and sample some foods you’ve never eaten! Register by the previous Friday.

January 27, 12 p.m. – Russia is the featured country for January and to tie in with the Winter Olympics.

February 24, 12 p.m. – Italy is the featured country for February and will feature Italian dishes.

Super Thursday: Have Flute Will Travel

January 29, 10:30 a.m. – Katherine Calvey, a flutist who has played all around the world, will take us out of the winter blues and transport us to places far away. From Ohio to Carnegie Hall, onto Paris through South America and back; she is delighted to perform music from around the world on her flute for you, accompanied by slides of beautiful international scenery. Register by January 23.

Men’s Breakfast

February 5, 9:30 a.m. – If you are 55 or older, join us for a morning of good food, fellowship and a speaker or entertainment. Breakfast includes a hot entrée, coffee, fruit and juice for $4. Thank you to VFW Post 9871 for sponsoring February’s breakfast.

Entertainment: The Real Wild West – In your lifetime, you may have seen dozens of western movies, starring John Wayne, Gary Cooper, Randolph Scott, Walter Brennan… even Bob Hope! With a few exceptions, those films generally did not portray the west authentically. This program explores what life on the prairies and in the mountains was REALLY like in the 1800’s. We’ll look at clips from some of the few movies that tried to get it right, perhaps take a YouTube stroll through a ghost town and learn more about the “Code of the West”… and Cowboy Ethics.

Senior Center Meet Up

February 10, 12 p.m. – Lunch at Royal Grill Sushi Buffet, 5234 Cobblestone Road, Sheffield. Royal Grill seamlessly blends sushi, hibachi and classic Chinese buffet offerings. Guests are greeted by an enchanting interior featuring a serene pond adorned with turtles and a charming bridge, creating a unique dining atmosphere. Registration required by February 6.

Coffee Corner with Care Patrol

February 11, 2 p.m. – Join us for a warm cup of coffee and meaningful conversation during our NEW program, Coffee Corner with Care Patrol. Senior Care Advisor Amy Smith will lead a friendly discussion on topics important to older adults immediately following bingo on the second Wednesday of each month.

Our upcoming session is Wednesday, February 11 at 2 p.m. Each month features a new theme, with January’s conversation centered on “solo aging.” Registration is encouraged and we hope you’ll enjoy this added opportunity to connect with others at the Senior Center.

Health Talk with Dr. Alexander Zolli

February 12, 10 a.m. – Join us for an informative presentation on a variety of health, disease and wellness topics. Dr. Alexander Zolli is the surgeon-in-residence at LCCC. Register by Feb 11. Topic: Aneurysms. LOCATION: North Ridgeville Library Meeting Room C

Ladies’ Brunch

February 19, 10:30 a.m. – If you are 55 or older, join us for a hot entrée, coffee, fruit cup and juice for $4. Brunch includes a speaker or entertainment.

Entertainment: How to Get More Out of Watching Movies – This presentation will help us take a closer look at the movies we see in terms of the techniques that are involved in making them. We will view and discuss clips that show examples of how each technique contributes to the overall impact of a film.

Outing: Asia Town Shopping & Lunch

February 20, 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. – Our visit coincides with Chinese New Year. Art displays and exhibits will be on view at the plaza. We will venture to the Park & Shop where Asian specialty groceries can be purchased. Lunch at Li Wah’s. Registration begins January 21 at 1:00 p.m. 13 spots available. Cost $5. Depart from the Senior Center
