Local hospitals are working in collaboration with Lorain County Public Health (LCPH) to distribute COVID-19 vaccinations efficiently and effectively.
Both Mercy Health – Lorain and University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center are part of this coordinated effort to receive and administer vaccines. When these hospitals receive COVID-19 vaccines designated for members of the public, they allocate those vaccines to Lorain County Public Health for administration at mass vaccine clinics based on Ohio’s phased vaccine plan. 
“It makes sense to work together with hospitals on this massive endeavor to get Lorain County vaccinated against COVID-19,” says Dave Covell, MPH, RS, health commissioner at LCPH. “We share the same goal. To create a healthy place for all to live, work, and play here in Lorain County.”
Lorain County is following Ohio’s plan to vaccinate those most at risk for getting very sick or dying from COVID-19. Once more COVID-19 vaccines are received, LCPH will schedule clinics and invite groups according to Ohio’s vaccination plan. Each provider will follow Ohio’s phased approach for vaccine distribution. Each provider also manages its own schedules and appointments.
Research indicates that COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. The goal of vaccinations is to save lives and slow the spread of the virus. As supply increases, COVID-19 vaccines will be available to all Ohioans who choose to be vaccinated. LCPH advises to continue taking steps to protect yourself and your loved ones from COVID-19. Stay home when sick and wash hands often. Wear a mask and keep six feet away from people you don’t live with.
