NRCS Receives Auditor of State Award

At last month’s regular board meeting, North Ridgeville City Schools was presented the Auditor of State Award with Distinction. Treasurer Michael Pissini (right), was given this award by Jake Altman, Northeast Re-gional Liaison for the Ohio Auditor of State, Keith Faber’s office. This award is the highest honor given by the Ohio Auditor of State for excellence in accounting, financial reporting, and management.

At Monday’s regular board meeting, North Ridgeville City Schools was presented the Auditor of State Award. Treasurer/CFO Michael Pissini, was given this award by Jake Altman, the Northeast Regional Liaison for the Auditor of State’s Office, on behalf of Auditor of State Keith Faber.

“This award puts the district into the top tier of districts across the state when it comes to financial reporting. Less than 10 percent of almost 6,000 entities we audit across the state receive this award. Everybody pulls together for this and it speaks to the leadership and professionalism of Mr. Pissini and this team,” Mr. Altman said.

The award is the highest honor given by the Auditor of State for excellence in accounting, financial reporting, and management. It represents the results of a comprehensive review of accounting practices, internal controls, financial transactions, timeliness of reporting, and compliance with federal and state regulations. Eligibility for the award includes criteria where there are no instances of findings, citations, material weaknesses, deficiencies, Uniform Grant Guidance findings, questioned costs, and no comments relating to ethics, account reconciliations, and other financial matters.

“The District is committed to ensuring fiscal responsibility, and this award is a testament to the excellent work we do to deliver on the best expectations to the community, and all of our stakeholders. The ongoing goal is to be good stewards of our taxpayers’ dollars, and be as efficient, effective, and accurate as we can every day. I’m very proud to accept this award,” Mr. Pissini said.
