Georgia, On My Mind: Remember Your Voice

Monthly thoughts from Councilwoman at Large Georgia Awig

Each of us was given a voice—not just to speak, but to connect, express, and make a difference. We use our voices to share ideas, offer opinions, ask questions, tell stories, and brighten someone’s day with a kind word or compliment. Whether we’re speaking up in a conversation, offering encouragement, or sharing laughter, our voice has the power to influence and inspire those around us.

One of the most impactful ways we use our voice is through voting. During election times, we head to the polls to choose leaders who will speak and make decisions on our behalf. It’s a reminder that our voice matters—not only in personal interactions, but also in shaping our communities and the future we all share. Participating in elections is one way we stand up for what we believe in and help bring about the change we want to see.

As you go through the coming days and weeks, take a moment to think about how you’re using your voice. Will you use it to encourage someone? To stand up for a cause? To ask thoughtful questions or offer kind words? Your voice is a powerful tool—please use it with purpose.
