Say Hello to Steve Esber, North Ridgeville’s Blueberry Man!

North Ridgeville’s Esber U Pick Blueberry Farms

Steve is well known to many as head custodian for North Ridgeville Schools. He is also proprietor of Esbers Farm & Market at 7168 Case Road (just north of Center Ridge) in North Ridgeville.

Esbers Farms U Pick Blueberry Season is in full swing and Steve has been busy welcoming families for the wonderful summertime experience of filling your own bucket with the delectable berries under sunny July skies!

The market is open every day (except Mondays) and you are always welcome to call Steve at (216) 533-4706 to let him know you’re coming. Steve also stocks an honor market stand in his front yard for after hours visitors.

Steve is a degreed horticulturist who fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning a small farm when he purchased the 2-plus acre parcel in 2015. He had the soil analyzed by experts for advice on planting selections. The answer came back – berries! Steve settled on blueberries over raspberries or strawberries because blueberries are his daughter’s favorite.

Another beautiful load going out to market today don’t forget to visit the Red Wagon farms in Columbia Station

Sun-ripened and ready to pick, Esbers Farms blueberries fresh from the vine are unforgettable. It’s no wonder that he is an important supplier to well-known markets like Red Wagon Farms. “So proud to be one of the suppliers at the Red Wagon Farm in Columbia Station – all of us Farmers try to work together to supply you the freshest local food that’s possible,” says Steve.

Steve also likes to discuss the drip-irrigation system he has installed and welcomes you to his greenhouse tunnel now alive with tomatoes, cukes, peppers and more. His ingenious method of stringing his tomatoes will give home gardeners ideas and he is happy to discuss the pruning of vine suckers to maximize your harvest.

“I’d like to thank everyone that came out to the farm today, what a wonderful day with a bunch of wonderful families and their children. I can’t be more excited than to have everybody over,” said Steve last weekend.

Families also love the experience. “My daughter loves blueberries and we visited Esbers Farm to pick our own. She had the best time and the blueberries were AMAZING!!!!” says a guest. “They were so nice and knowledgeable. She even got to help feed their tortoise Dino!”

If you are headed to Case Road, approach from Center Ridge to avoid southbound detours from Detroit.
