By Dave Greenspan, Lorain County Board of County Commissioners, Special Projects
In July of last year, the Lorain Board of County Commissioners authorized an agreement with Future-iQ, Inc. to create a comprehensive and sustainable 5-year Strategic Action Plan. The focus of the engagement is to conduct extensive research and community engagement to identify a path to preserve and enhance a diverse, resilient, and vibrant community.
Members of the community have participated in various events and activities including Focus Groups, a two-day Think Tank conference, Countywide Workshops and a Survey. The information gained from these exercises will be used to prepare a Final Report that will help shape and guide the future of Lorain County. Over 2,000 have responded to the surveys, and close to 500 people have attended the various in-person meetings and conferences. Some of the key drivers and pillars identified are transportation, affordable housing, workforce development, economic development just to name a few.
It is not too late to participate. Currently a second survey is being conducted and community feedback is encouraged. The Final Report will be released at the Future Summit which will be held on March 25, 2024 at the Reaser Grand Room, Spitzer Conference Center at Lorain Community College.
