Lorain Public Library Upcoming Local Events – Aug. 13 to 27

Registration for all fall programs (September, October and November) opens Thursday, Aug. 15 at 9 a.m.

Summer Lunch for Kids: Weekdays through Aug. 16; Noon to 1 p.m., Domonkas Branch – Ages 18 and under are invited to come to lunch Monday through Friday all summer long (excluding Tuesday, July 4 due to the library being closed) for the Summer Food Service Program.

Lunch and Legos Tuesdays: Tuesdays, Aug. 13, 20; Noon, South Lorain Branch – Join us for a weekly Lego challenge! Free lunches are provided for those under age 18.

Summer Bucket List Drop‑In: Tuesday, Aug. 13; 1 to 4 p.m., North Ridgeville Branch – Stop by to enjoy some fun summer activities to check off your bucket list!

Heart and Sole Fresh Produce Pick‑Ups: Tuesdays, Aug. 13, 20, 27; Sept. 3, 10; 2 to 3 p.m., North Ridgeville Branch – Support local farmers by reserving a fresh produce bag for pick‑up at the library. Pricing and reservation instructions will be listed closer to the event. This event is sponsored by North Ridgeville Heart and Sole, a community collaborative that strives to increase access to physical activity and healthy foods. Teen Open Studio: Tuesdays, Aug. 13, 20; 2 p.m., Main Library – Develop your creativity by trying out new art mediums and techniques or bring your own supplies and work on your current projects with other artists! Preregistration required.

CAD Club: Tuesday, Aug. 13; 4 to 6 p.m., Avon Branch – Learn how to use computer‑aided design (CAD) software to accurately fabricate real‑world projects with an emphasis on the VCarve software and CNC machining.

City Fresh Produce Pick‑Up: Tuesdays, Aug. 13, 20, 27; 4 p.m., Main Library, South Lorain Branch – City Fresh is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program working to create access to fresh, local vegetables for all. With a weekly payment, participants receive a grab bag of the freshest seasonal produce, known as a “share.” Shares come in Single or Family sizes and are offered at tiered prices. Limited income and EBT shares are available. Order for as many or as few weeks as desired for pick up at either the Main Library or the South Lorain Branch. Disney Movie Trivia Night: Tuesday, Aug. 13; 6 to 7:30 p.m., North Ridgeville Branch – Hakuna matata and bibbidi‑bobbidi‑boo! Join us for trivia, snacks and prizes. Bring your own team of six or make one there. Costumes are encouraged. For ages 9 and up. Preregistration required.

Main Library Film Discussion: Thursday, Aug. 22; 6:45 to 7:45 p.m., Main Library, Zoom, Aug. 22: “Oldboy (Oldeuboi)” by Park Chan‑Wook, South Korea 2003 – After being kidnapped and imprisoned for fifteen years, Oh Dae‑Su is released, only to find that he must track down his captor in five days. Story Stroll: Friday, Aug. 23; 10 to 10:45 a.m., Black River Landing StoryWalk, 319 Black River Lane, Lorain – Bounce, wiggle and stroll with us at this outdoor story time. For babies and toddlers, birth through 3‑years‑old, with their caregivers. Walks will follow a paved path and total distance walked will not exceed a half mile.
