Georgia, On My Mind: Blessings and Thankfulness

Monthly thoughts from Councilwoman at Large Georgia Awig

As Thanksgiving is approaching at the end of the month, I am thinking about the many blessings that have been bestowed upon our family. Hope you are thinking about your blessings as well. We could always have more, but then we also could have less. When I focus on the positives, it is very hard for me to even list any negatives. After all, one tends not to miss what they have never had.

Have you ever tried to list all your blessings? I would be willing to bet that most of us would have a very long list, too numerous to mention. If you aren’t able to make a list, maybe you need to change your thoughts and become an optimist. You might be familiar with the saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” Be sure not to let the thoughts of others influence you unless they are positive in nature.

Also, you might want to think about the way you talk and say things to yourself and others. Do you tend to say “I have to go to work” or have you trained your brain to say, “I am glad I have the opportunity to go to work.” It really is a lot about your thoughts and how you look at life in general.

What will you include on your list of blessings and things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving?
