City Council Meetings and Swearing-In Ceremonies

Congratulations to Holly Swenk, Katie Rogerson, Paul Wolanski and Cali Zingale as they were sworn in as Council members last month.

North Ridgeville City Council Appoints Ward 1 Council Representative

At its December 15, 2025 meeting, North Ridgeville City Council unanimously voted to appoint Katie Rogerson as the Ward 1 Council representative following a formal application and nomination process to fill the vacancy.

The Ward 1 seat became available after former Ward 1 Council member Holly Swenk was elected as an At-Large member of Council and subsequently resigned her Ward 1 position.

Rogerson will serve as Ward 1’s representative through December 31, 2027. She will be sworn in alongside newly elected Council members during a separate ceremony on December 29, 2025 and will officially begin her duties on January 1, 2026.

Council expressed appreciation to the residents who submitted applications and demonstrated interest in serving the community.

North Ridgeville City Council Appoints Ward 2 Council Representative

At its January 5, 2026 meeting, North Ridgeville City Council voted to appoint Robert Holub as Ward 2 Council representative following a formal application and nomination process to fill the vacancy. The Ward 2 seat became available upon resignation of Eric Shaffer.

Holub will serve as Ward 2’s representative through December 31, 2027. Mayor Kevin Corcoran will administer the Oath of Office and Holub will be sworn in at 6:30 p.m. on January 20, 2026. He will officially assume his duties immediately during the Council meeting that evening.

In Other News from the January 5 Council Meeting….

  • Sugar Ridge Road Rehabilitation and the Sugar Ridge Road & Bender Road Roundabout are in the early stages of design. Engineering firms have begun preliminary fieldwork and surveying, so residents may notice activity in that area.
  • The Taylor Parkway Rehabilitation Project is currently out for bid. Bids are expected to be opened on January 15, with the city anticipating a contractor to be under contract within the next month.
  • The Cypress Avenue Extension Project is underway. Digioia Suburban Excavating, has completed initial striping and grading work and plans to begin utilities work and a culvert replacement later this week. The project remains on track for completion in mid-July. This is where Meijer will be going in. It used to be accessible only from Lear, but now will connect to Lorain Road in North Olmsted.
  • Root Road Park is temporarily closed for improvements. The project is expected to be completed by June 12.
  • Windstream Communications plans to replace approximately 30 miles of underground cable this year. Work is expected in Mills Creek, Meadow Lakes, Avalon Estates, Case Road, Bender Road and parts of Waterbury.
  • At the January 5 meeting, Council appointed Robert Holub to fill the Ward 2 council seat left vacant by Eric Shaffer.
