Preserve or acquire land for employment uses.
As outlined in the city’s master plan, a key priority is to preserve and prepare land for business and industrial uses to support growth and strengthen the local tax base.
The city has recently closed on property that will be combined with a previously acquired and rezoned 46-acre industrial site. Together, the combined property creates a larger and more attractive opportunity for future development. Beginning this month, Council will consider rezoning the newly acquired portion to match the existing industrial zoning and support a unified site.
This effort reflects the master plan’s guidance to prepare sites for employment uses by assembling land, aligning zoning and planning for infrastructure. The city has plans underway to extend sanitary sewer service to the site, further improving its readiness for future development and helping attract a range of high-quality end users.
By continuing to invest in site readiness and infrastructure, the city is helping create the conditions for future job growth, private investment and long-term economic strength.
