NRFD 95th Anniversary
Did you know this month marks the 95th anniversary of the North Ridgeville Fire Department? Formed in 1931 by the Ridgeville Twp. Trustees, this department has grown from 25 volunteers to 40 full time firefighters!
This month we are honoring this milestone with a special display at the North Ridgeville Library. Be sure to stop in this month and see some of the first firefighters, the current crew and a little about how we got where we are today.
We are so fortunate to have these 40 caring men and women who are always ready to help us when we call!
Congratulations on this milestone!
1775 Map
We thought you might enjoy this map from 1755 showing our part of Ohio. I’m not sure, but I’m guessing the Black River in Elyria might be the “River Muddy” on the map??
The Confederates mentioned on the map was a nation of Indian tribes that joined together centuries earlier to ensure peace amongst themselves and to help with self-governing. Starting with 5 tribes, then growing to 7, their domain reached from the Sorel River in Canada, south to the Carolinas, west to the Mississippi and east to the Atlantic. They became a hinge pin in the French Indian War- being swayed to join forces with the French, but finally becoming an ally of the English.
